The War Bit is available with a 2 inch Loose Ring and is made with veg tan leather and double stitched for safety and to help prevent stretching. It is pre oiled before shipping to you. This bit has a unique fit with a chin strap that is designed to hold the bit in place. This bit is designed to be used with or without a headstall or bridle but we do suggest using a head stall or bridle when first introducing this bit to your horse.
The more you use a leather bit the more it will shape to your horses mouth.

War Bit design allows you a different type of training. Riding without a bridle or head stall may be beneficial to horses with TMJ or those sensitive to poll pressure. Starting out with a bridle is always recommended when riding with a War Bit.
The War bit is designed to be used with or without a head stall. The leather strap should fit snug above the chin to help prevent the bit from slipping down. The war bit is 18 mm +\- wide and the rings are 2” inside diameter 2.5” outside diameter. We advice ordering 1/4” larger than normal bit size. The Measurement of this bit is on the inside of the leather chin strap. The rings sit outside of the strap therefore it should measure 1/4” larger. We advice uses a head stall for your first few rides or till comfortable with this bit.
When measuring for a War
-Your Horses Actual mouth size will be the measurement inside the chin strap (basically from the stitches closest to the rings.
- The measurement from ring to ring will measure 1/4" larger (+ or -)
- Also measure around the chin. Check photo below
- The measurement Through the mouth and around the chin in also useful
- This will help your chin strap fit accurately

We advice uses a head stall for your first few rides or till comfortable with this bit. Allow the cheek pieces to be loose so the bit will find its natural placement but is still held by the cheek pieces.

We advice uses a head stall for your first few rides or till comfortable with this bit. The bit is held in place by the chin strap. No wrinkles will appear on the lips.

These Bits are made from Veg-tan leather which is a natural product and may vary in colour and have natural occuring cosmetic flaws.
Although we uphold the highest standards in our workmanship we do not guarrentee any bit.
We strongly recommend proper care of your bit to extend the life of the bit by keeping it clean and oiled. Washing with warm water and oiling with a vegetable or coconut or Mineral oil or olive oil or an oil of your choice.
Before initial use dip the bit in warm water and oil allowing the bit to become malleable. The more your horse wears the bit the more it shapes to that individual. We do recommend one horse uses the bit
